Happy Hatterween!

It's one of the most wonderful times of the year, where we get to have a little bit of fun and stir up our everyday norms, don costumes, make mischief and look good doing it!

So what better time to top of your Halloween look than now with the perfect hat?

While it may seem daunting at first trying to get inspiration or even know where to start with the right style, don't worry, we've got you covered! We will give you five classic hat shapes that will come with a barrage of costumes you can utilize them toward and get extra creative with, while also being a fantastic addition to your everyday style well after the season of tricks and treats is over.

So let's get to it!

First, who doesn't love a classic felt fedora? With its sharp silhouette of pinched crown and snap brim, it's easy to call to mind old black and white films with a sharp-eyed noir detective, or 1920s gents and gangsters alike, but did you know Indiana Jones' hat was also one? (Just plan on acquiring your hat early enough to give it that archeological adventure distressed look.)

But that's not all! Other figures with fedoras or even the stingy brimmed trilby to keep in mind are Five from the Umbrella Academy series, Red from The Blacklist series, The Blues Brothers, and if you're in more of a mind to share some fright this Halloween, Freddy Krueger.

For a no-fuss and flexible look that will encompass a lot of different costumes, we have our Belfry Gangster, Belfry Bartolo, and for our Indy fans the Stetson Woodbury.

Brown felt bowler

Another duo of classic shapes easy to add to a costume are our top hats and bowlers

If you're looking for a style best to suit John Watson or other Victorian fellows fictional and non, or even Inspector Campbell (and sometimes Polly Gray) from Peaky Blinders, our Belfry Tammany is the perfect choice for you! It's more oval in shape and has a slightly longer brim that is curled more on the sides of the hat, making it a very comfortable fit.

The flared crown of our Belfry John Bull not only can whip up images of Victorian vampires lurking in decadent parties or woeful long forgotten ghosts still finding time to be dapper in the afterlife, but also the beloved bohemian witchy vibes of Stevie Nicks. This also inherently romantic style is featured heavily in such popular shows as Bridgerton and Downton Abbey, giving this hat quite the range. If you're into upcycling accessories to fit Neo-Victorian or Steampunk aesthetics, these hats are the perfect blank canvas for you to really let your creativity shine through!

Felt Cloche Belfry Ardea

Speaking of romantic classic shapes, ladies of the 1920s didn't always wear feathered headbands. If you're seeking another look of the era for your costume, look no further than the classic cloche! These were more the daywear of the era, framing the face beautifully while hugging close to the head.

The Belfry Messina in particular is a fantastic option for anyone seeking to embody the stylish quirk of Phryne from Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries with its decadent velvet in rich wine and it's also completely crushable and packable for your sleuthing of crimes most foul; it's a win-win!

You can bet any others in our collection are perfect for your Downton Abbey themed attire just as readily as well, and will make brilliantly elegant additions to your everyday wardrobe!

Belfry Brooks Boater Hat

Ah, the boater. We would be remiss to leave this out of our Hatterween list.

Despite being considered off-season for everyday wear due to the straw materials these come in, you can still bring it out for a night of fun and frights for group costumes of a barbershop quartet, or Bert and Mary Poppins. If you're a fan of Sandman, you might recognize this as the hat The Corinthian wore as well. It also fits the Gatsby look if fedoras tend to not be the angle you wish to approach for your costume.

Versatile and fun, you can use this well after the fact for any spring and summer event to add some style to your look! The Belfry Venice is one of our long time favorites, but the Belfry Brooks brings something new to the mix with its warm tone and striped band if you're wanting to have something to play with!

And there you have it: five classic hat shapes to get you ready for the perfect costume and Halloween festivities.
