New Era actually started before baseball was America’s Pastime and long before the fitted baseball cap was a style essential. It was founded in 1920 by German immigrant Ehrhardt Koch, who helped to pioneer some of the Gatsby-era fashion caps that we now so closely associate with the Roaring Twenties. The company eventually later focused on making practical and stylish athletic caps and today the New Era baseball cap is the official on-field cap for every Major League Baseball team and also makes caps for many NFL teams and other sports.
While the company is a fixture in professional sports uniforms and team gear, New Era has created a stylish line to accompany its team-based baseball and athletic caps. Many styles in the New Era line pay homage to classic hats such as the newsboy, where New Era first made its name with the Gatsby-style newsboy caps. While the line plays with classic shapes for caps, it modernizes with the use of modern and fresh fabrics to set them apart from those old standby styles. In addition to classic New Era hats, we offer a variety of unique, fashion-focused New Era hat styles at Hats in the Belfry, like pub caps, fedora hats, driver and ivy caps and bucket hats. New Era fedoras are designed to blend classic and contemporary hat features, like soft linen or cotton blend bodies that are styled with cool, modern hatbands. We also offer duckbill caps and other English-inspired styles from the New Era Collection. New Era takes its inspiration from the old world where it got its start, but offers classics in innovative ways to take you through to the next new era.
